A Powerful, Beautiful & Tasty Red Drink!

Got another great antioxidant smoothie for you made from the incredible and powerful red beet. Now I know what you're saying. Beets? No way I'm drinking that! Well, that's exactly what my wife and I said until I did some research on the benefits of drinking beet smoothies. All I knew about beets were the memories of holiday time and the red gelatinous glob that nobody including myself ever touched. So my reluctance to trying something new was valid. Changing my thinking and after reading up on the awesome nutritional value of beets I couldn't pass up the facts and decided to give them a try. I went off to the grocery store and got what was needed and researched some recipes that looked palatable still thinking this might not go as planned. Surprisingly enough, my first attempt proved everything I ever thought about beets to be false. The drink was delicious!

Since my first concoction, I have made some tweaks and came up with a great tasting mixture that not only has a great consistency but tastes great too. Beet smoothies have put a new light on those old slimy beets from holidays past and my wife loves them so much she asks me to make them for her all the time.

Those aren't bad reasons to give the rich red vegetables at try. Believe me, I thought they would taste terrible but they are a daily smoothie I not only love but crave. Here is my recipe below.

  • One beet - Include the stems and leafy greens
  • 1/4 cup of orange juice or pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond or cashew milk
  • 1 teaspoon of organic raw honey
  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries (mixed berries if you prefer)

Red beet smoothie... super red... super tasty!

Add to your blender, I use a Nutri Ninja, and blend until smooth. Add more almond or cashew milk if the smoothie is too thick for your liking. Garnish with an orange or lime slice and enjoy immediately! Happy Smoothie!
